About the Studios

What are The Marchwell Studios?
The Marchwell Studios is a heritage-led creative enterprise hub being created in the former Marchwell Stables at Graylingwell Park, Chichester. The restored building is intended to provide affordable workspace, maker studios, enterprise incubation, training and community learning.

Who is behind the project?
The project is being delivered and will be operated by Chichester Community Development Trust (CCDT), which owns and manages community assets across Chichester.

Who are the Studios for?
The Studios are designed for artists, makers, creative businesses and start-ups, and community organisations. They aim to support both established practitioners and people developing new creative enterprises.

What types of activity will take place?
Planned uses include studio-based creative work, sustainable making, creative business incubation, skills development, training, community learning and opportunities for collaboration. Exact activities and any public programme will be announced as the site moves towards opening.

Spaces and Applications

What kind of workspace will be available?
The current plans include flexible studios and workspace units for creative practitioners and small businesses, as well as incubation and training space. Final unit sizes, specifications, services and prices will be confirmed by the Marchwell Studios team.

How can I register my interest in a studio?
Sign up to the newsletter on this page or email hello@themarchwellstudios.com to ensure you are kept up to date with the works and application information. Registering interest does not guarantee a studio, but it allows the team to keep you informed.

How much will a studio cost?
Rental rates vary depending on the size of the space but go from circa £125 a month to just under £1200 for the largest space, all utilities are individually metered and charged, business rates are still being confirmed. Fit out costs will lie with the tenant and spaces come as a blank canvas with lights, two-point plug and a stop cock and Wi-Fi. This document will be updated or you can contact the team for the latest information.

How big will the studios be?
Exact, precise sizes are still to be confirmed once final fit out is completed but the ‘Small’ spaces vary from 15.5m2 to 19.6m2, ‘Medium’ spaces from 23.8m2 to 48m2 and ‘Large’ spaces 60m2 to 66.1m2.

I have large equipment, what size are the door measurements?
External doors are 850mm and internal doors 900mm

Visiting and Access

Where are The Marchwell Studios?
The Studios are at Graylingwell Park in Chichester, within the restored former Marchwell Stables. Detailed directions and visitor arrangements should be checked before travelling, particularly while works are continuing.

Parking around Graylingwell Park is managed and spaces are limited. Current local visitor parking uses signed bays, with payment available through the SIPPI app. Please check signs and current arrangements when you arrive; dedicated Studios parking will also be limited.

Will the Studios be accessible?
The redevelopment has had accessibility as a key requirement from the beginning. It includes an accessible WC, all bar two spaces are ground floor and suitable for those with limited mobility. Full information on step-free routes, accessible parking, door widths and individual studio access will be published closer to opening. If you have a specific access requirement, contact the team before visiting.
