Helping communities and individuals create brighter futures
The Chichester Community Development Trust (CCDT) will own and manage The Marchwell Studios, a space for talented makers and creative businesses. CCDT will support the sustainable growth of emerging and small enterprises in the local community by offering not only the space but also business advice, support and a thriving creative community.
By 2025, the historic stable buildings at Graylingwell Park will be redeveloped and restored and transformed into a vibrant hub and a voice for making in all its forms.
Through a tiered system of affordable and commercial market rents, we aim to foster the sustainable growth of local makers, especially those facing barriers to employment in the creative sector. We are proud to partner with Chichester University and the regional charity Outside In to provide opportunities for artists and makers marginalised by health, financial, or personal challenges, including neurodiverse individuals and those with protected characteristics.
The Plans
Set around a central courtyard, the Studios will consist of four areas, each dedicated to supporting creative individuals, companies, and charities. The courtyard, with its covered walkways and training workshop, will evolve into a covered outdoor exhibition and trading hub—a space for the local community to engage and connect.
There will be flexible rent options to help small businesses and organisations grow. As the maker’s businesses flourish, they will move into larger premises onsite or nearby, creating space for an emerging maker to thrive.
With over 8000 square feet of studios, the space will host an exciting and diverse range of creative, educational, and community activities.
Built by the Community, for the Community
Marchwell Studios isn’t just a workspace—it is a community-run business belonging to the people it serves. CCDT exists to help local enterprises launch, grow, and thrive. Together, we’re building a creative hub where extraordinary talent can flourish.
